Honoring War Veterans of the 20th Century
“Certificates of Appreciation and Honor for Veterans"
The Fraternal Order of Police, Fulton County Lodge 64 and State Senator Donzella
James want to say “Thank You” to Veterans of all wars for their honorable military service and personal sacrifice by hosting a special certificate ceremony.
This event will involve the presentation of Georgia’s Certificate of Appreciation to every Georgia veteran with honorable service during World War II(September 1, 1939 to September 2, 1945), the Gulf War/Desert Shield/Desert Storm (August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991), the War in Iraq (March 20, 2003 to December 18, 2011) and the War in Afghanistan (October 7, 2001 to present). The State’s Certificate of Appreciation is personalized with the War Veteran’s name, rank, branch of service, and dates of service. These certificates are signed by GDVS Commissioner Mike Roby.
Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans who served in-country and those who were stationed elsewhere in other capacities will receive the State Certificate of Honor signed by Governor Brian Kemp and GDVS Commissioner Mike Roby and are printed over the Seal of the State of Georgia. Korean War Veterans who served during the Korean War and the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations thereafter (1950 to 1955) are eligible to receive the Certificate of Honor, which will have the official Korean War logo included. Vietnam War Veterans who served during the Vietnam War (June 1, 1954 to May 15, 1975) will receive the State Certificate of Honor (with the official Vietnam War logo) and the U.S. Defense Department’s Vietnam War 50thAnniversary Lapel Pin on behalf of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and the Office of Governor Brian Kemp in conjunction with the Defense Department’s ongoing 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War. The ceremony date and time is TBA.
